'Towards a Culture of Human Rights in Scotland' is presented by Nick Higgins of the University of Edinburgh and by Noe Mendelle of the Scottish Documentary Institute in association with Docspace.
The event, sponsored by MSP Jamie Hepburn, who is also the convener for the cross party group on Human Rights and Civil Liberties, will include the screening of six excerpts from the Human Rights documentary 'The New Ten Commandments' (co-produced by Nick Higgins and Noe Mendelle), and followed by a chaired discussion amongst invited speakers and guests including John Watson from Amnesty International and Alan Miller, appointed chair of the Scottish Commission for Human Rights.

Binayak Sen is a medical doctor and a campaigner for public health and human rights in India. He is currently in prison on "trumped up charges" relating to his criticism of the government.
On Thursday May 14th Binyak Sen will have been in prison for two years, awaiting a trial that has been repeatedly delayed and where there are growing doubts as to its likely fairness. To mark the occassion a "chain gang" of doctors will parade in handcuffs and chains.
