Scotland's 1st African Radio Station

Radio Kilimanjaro is a new social enterprise in Scotland, broadcasting particularly to the African population here but also to all with an interest in Africa. At present it broadcasts only online at Radio Kilimanjaro but it has been granted FM local licences for both Glasgow and Edinburgh, and hopes to start on-air broadcasts this Saturday 2nd October 2010 on 87.9FM in Glasgow and 87.7 in Edinburgh.

The online service can, of course, be accessed from anywhere in the world.

The website gives the broadcasting schedules for each day of the week. There is African music, advice programmes, news, phone-ins, children's programmes and much else, with material in English, French, Somali, Swahili, Arabic and Pidgin. The website also has links to some other people's services, including news and music, and there is a community news service.
ACTSA has no direct involvement in the station, but I thought it could well be of interest to many of our contacts.

With thanks to Action for Southern Africa for passing on this info.
